Project 52 Week 22 Playtime

We have been working on our Frisbee skills around here during our playtime.

Practicing catching.

And throwing.

We also take walks down the alley and pretend we are on a nature path and not an alley.  Pretending is hard to do when you pass by a stinky dumpster.

I like the alleys that have dirt paths instead of pavement.

And seeing the sun setting and peeking out of trees makes me smile.

What do you do for playtime?

Project 52 Week 21 Favorites

How easy is this theme?  I have lots of favorites, but my family tops the list.

family

You may have notice I have been spending less time on my blog and more time making memories with my family. We have been spending a lot of quality time together.  The above photo was taken at a park where we spent the day playing frisbee, football, and walking the dogs.

I used Kim Klassen’s idea she showed us in a tutorial in her Beyond Layer’s class to create the FAMILY letters in the pic.  I did something similar last year using a photo and my Cricut.  I cut out the letters and mod podged them onto a board.

Love ModPodge Sign

I am thinking this new way to make the letters in photoshop would allow me to make these signs without using a Cricut.  I would just have to cut out the letters after I printed the photo.

I might have to give it a whirl sometime soon.

Chicken Wire Candle Cloche & A Neat Story

We revealed our secret pals at work the other day with a gift.  I got a really pretty candle holder I thought I would share with you.

I think she must know me pretty well.  I love it.

I wanted to share something cool with you all.  A couple of weeks ago I was shopping at my local grocery store when I heard a lady call out, “It’s Tracy!”.  I turned an a very pretty lady came up to me to tell me she loves my blog and Izzy.  She is from another city here in Texas, but she was visiting her dad who was ill.  I thought it was so neat to run into someone who recognized me from my blog and what are the chances we would be in the same place at the same time?  I also love that she loves Izzy.  So this pic is for her.  I had Izzy outside in the front flowerbed.  The sun was setting and my house faces west.  I guess it was a little bright because this his what she did.

In the next day or so I am going to post about the paint I read about recently that I think would make kitchen cabinet painting EASY.

I Painted My Bar Black

A couple of weeks ago I painted my bar black.  I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either.  I thought it would tie in my hutch I painted black.  I didn’t tell my husband I painted it and he still hasn’t noticed.  Silly man.

Here’s a closer look at the hutch.

I still love that transformation.  I have been tossing the idea of painting my cabinets off white.  If I do it, I found the paint I will use. No sanding, priming, etc.  My kind of paint.  It is not chalk paint.

I do think I will paint my dining chairs black sometime soon.  I haven’t been in the mood for projects.  I have really enjoyed family time lately.  We spent the day at the park yesterday.  It was great.

Remember my little stencil idea for the corbels?  It didn’t work out so well.

IMG_0113 copy

Oh well…it is so dark under there you can’t see it.

Here is a before and after.

Like it or hate it …it’s here to stay.  I will let you know if my husband ever notices it.

Project 52 Week 20 Mothers

This theme was not my favorite at all.  Losing my mom to suicide 12 years ago was tough, but I got through it and I no longer dwell about the void she left in my life.

IMG_3888 copy

However, when you don’t have a mother to take a photo of then the sadness creeps back in a little.

Then I thought about animals and they always make me smile.  So I went in search of a mother in the animal world.

IMG_4090-2 copy

I don’t know if I found 2 mothers or a mother and a father goose.  I like how one of them is checking me out to see what I am doing.  That’s just like a mom to keep a watchful eye on her babies.

Mother’s Day Weekend @ Quartz Mountain

My weekend was the best.  I have an aunt that is a year younger than me.  We spent quite a bit of time together when we were younger and sometimes our families would meet up at Quarts Mountain/Lake Altus in Oklahoma.

(above photos courtesy of my aunt’s IPhone.)

We always stayed in a tent or a camper, but this time we stayed in the cabins.

IMG_3779-2

And we took the dogs.

IMG_3782-3

And they loved it, but got lots of little sand burrs in their fur every time they went outside.

My husband and I took some walks together.

IMG_3814-2

And we found lots of wildflowers.

My husband took me on an adventure hike that involved cactus in my hand and potential ticks, chiggers and snakes so we could see some natural stone stairs.

IMG_3904-2

I think he secretly just wanted to see if he could catch a fish from the stairs.

IMG_3907-2

He didn’t.

He didn’t catch one on our nature walk either, but he let me take his pic.

IMG_3798

I bought him that hat so he wouldn’t get more skin cancer and surgery.  Not a fun experience.

My aunt brought her boat and my nephew.  My son and nephew got to go tubing.

The above pic is so my son going Oh No and my nephew thinking yee haw!.

I took a run to the resort one morning (up hill-it felt like both ways).  When I got there I ran across this cool bridge.

Later I took my son and nephew back to the resort to swim.

IMG_3857-2

My son is practicing his floating technique.

There were some cool huts.

IMG_3877

You could rent a room in the lodge.

IMG_3869

I preferred the cabins because we could make camp fires and swim in the lake.

IMG_3825-3

Izzy rode like a vulture on the backseat for a bit on our way home.

izhome

I wanted to stop and take pics of the big cross in Groom, TX on our way home.

cross

But I only got this one on my phone on the way to Quartz Mountain.  On the way home it was raining really hard.  We need the rain so I will just have to get photos some other day.

It was good to get away with my family and make memories with my son of Quartz Mountain just like I have from my childhood.
